Mandy has been making this honey beer bread for years, and it is one of those simple loaves that disappears at parties or beside a bowl of homemade soup. Natural Sun River Honey keeps the base recipe easy, and cheddar or Chipotle Honey can take it in a savoury direction.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp fine salt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup Sun River Honey Natural, warmed slightly so it pours easily
  • 1 can of beer
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl.
  3. Slowly pour in the beer and honey, then stir thoroughly.
  4. Pour half of the melted butter into a 9x5 bread pan and brush it around to coat the pan.
  5. Add the batter to the pan and flatten it out.
  6. Brush the remaining butter on top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before slicing.

Recipe Notes

For a savoury twist, try folding shredded cheddar into the batter. Chipotle infused Sun River Honey is also good here when you want a little heat.
