Sun River Honey Black Label is a natural, uniquely spreadable, soft creamed, Canadian honey exclusively produced by us.
Our honey is unpasteurized, always soft and spreadable, and contains its natural pollens. Traditional creamed honey has been popular in Canada and Europe for decades. It is honey that has been crystallized under controlled conditions. Unfortunately, the traditional method relies on high temperature pasteurization and extremely fine filtration, for pollen removal, to produce a soft smooth honey. We believe that pasteurization and pollen removal compromise the quality of honey.
We developed our own proprietary handling methods to allow the natural qualities of our local honey to shine through without pasteurization or fine filtration. We are the only honey that uses these methods to ensure our honey is always soft and spreadable.
Because it is so soft, our honey can be used as a spread for bread or toast. It can be used as a substitute for icing on baking or as a natural sweetener in home cooking. Mix it with water to make healthy honey water or add it to tea, coffee and hot beverages for a subtle added sweetness. Ever tried a scoop right before bed? Believe it or not, some of us find that we sleep better with a scoop straight out of the jar right before bed!
We choose Canadian honey for its delicate flavour profile, with a focus towards alfalfa, canola and clover floral sources. Sampling, testing and our 20 plus years of beekeeping experience allow us to deliver an authentic experience you won't find elsewhere.
If you’ve read this far and you need one more reason to buy, every jar sold helps us plant more Pollinator Pasture. Pollinator Pastures are areas of land that are dedicated to providing a high-quality variety of blossoming plants as forage for both honeybees as well as wild pollinators. When you buy a jar of our honey, it helps us plant more Pollinator Pasture. We have committed to plant 1 square foot of Pollinator Pasture for every jar of honey we sell.
Once you get your first jar, shoot us a message and let us know what you think!
